So you are an aspiring artist and would be interested in becoming associated with Silver Leaf Books, whether it is for cover designs, graphic art, graphic novels, or any other form of artistic work, then this section outlines the three-phase process on how to apply to become part of the SLB family:
 
PHASE 1:
The first phase, when attempting to submit your work to Silver Leaf Books, is to provide us with samples of your work, as well as a proposal on what you would like to work on, or in what capacity you would like to be associated with SLB. This proposal should be submitted either electronically to Editor@SilverLeafBooks.com, or mailed to:

The proposal should include as much of the following as possible:
 

• A cover letter providing a short introduction to the material you are including in the proposal;
• Artist's Information, providing information about you, including any creative background or artistic awards you may have won (experience is not a requirement);
• A brief statement of intent indicating what it is that you would like to work on (book covers, graphic arts, graphic novels, etc);
• Provide several samples so that we can receive an adequate idea about your artwork (if you would like the samples returned to you, then adequate postage must also be included);
• Desired financial terms.

Not all of this material is required, but the more you are able to submit, then the better picture we can form about you. Try to be thorough and professional with your submission, and remember: first impressions are often lasting ones!

PHASE 2:
By advancing to PHASE 2 of the proposal process, there has been mutual interest expressed between both you and Silver Leaf Books to continue exploring your artwork. During this stage, you will receive information from Silver Leaf Books with preliminary concepts for some of the work that you will be conducting. Depending on the nature of the samples, it is possible that some rough sketches of the anticipated work may be requested to finalize the decision process. At that point, if both the artist and Silver Leaf Books maintain mutual interest in pursuing the agreement, then we will enter the third and final PHASE.

PHASE 3:
You’re almost there! Once you have entered PHASE 3 of the proposal process, your work will be available for review by our authors. Here at Silver Leaf Books, our authors are given the creative freedom to choose their own cover artists, and by being part of the Silver Leaf Books Artist Network, you would be amongst a pool of candidates that the authors could select from. If the author selects your work, then you will receive the Silver Leaf Books artist contract. At this point, after all agreements have been made, you can expect to see additional materials sent to you to begin working on the designs that have been agreed upon.
