Regional Sales Representative

Position Code: SLBSL-1 Division: Sales Title: Regional Sales Representative Location: Any U.S. Location Position Type: Full Time / Part Time Position Level: Experienced Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience Compensation: Straight Commission   Position Duties: Silver Leaf Books is a book publisher specializing in the genres of Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, and Mystery. Most, but not all of our authors are considered new and upcoming talent in these core genres. We are currently seeking Sales Representatives to cover key markets and regions throughout the continental United States. These Representatives shall provide bi-weekly reporting on sales and activities, and manage the complete sales cycle, but otherwise shall have flexibility to perform their duties as they desire. This could include, but is not limited to, selling SLB's books and products to stores (large and small bookstores, specialty shops, general stores, department stores, etc), libraries, or direct to consumers. The Sales Representative may also have flexibility in their method of selling, including direct sales, direct mail, phone sales, internet sales, convention or trade show sales. The Sales Representative could also generate sales through activities such as publicity, press releases, and arranging author appearances and signings. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, aggressive, and innovative in their sales approach.   Position Requirements: Candidate must have strong organization and sales presentation skills. Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral), initiative, creativity, attention to detail, ability to prioritize a busy workload in a multi-task environment, and have the ability to work independently. Must also have an interest in Publishing or books, with a preference in our core genres. Travel required. Bookstore or publishing experience a plus.   Skills Desired: Knowledge of the Publishing / Book Industry. We are currently seeking Sales Interns who shall receive school credit to explore new markets and attempt to implement a guided sales plan. Specific plans for Interns shall be determined on a student-by-student basis, but generally, Interns shall research Publishing Industry trends, discover niche marketing approaches, suggest innovative approaches to selling, and following through with one or all of the above projects, actually attempting to generate sales or increase awareness and exposure.   Position Requirements: Interns must be able to prove they will be receiving school credit. Any school requirements or guidelines for providing credit should also be presented to Silver Leaf Books. Sales interns should be interested in entering the Sales/Marketing field, as well as learning about advertising sales, lead generation, and follow up. Under guidance, Interns help develop marketing, promotional, and sales ideas, identify targets, determine new and innovative sales and marketing approaches, investigate and find contacts within those companies, and go on sales calls.
