ARTICLES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

SLB No Longer Accepting Manuscripts for Printed Releases

October 29, 2010

Silver Leaf Books has been closely monitoring the trends of the publishing industry since the initial market collapse in 2008. Since then, both through industry resources, book industry study groups, and our own observations, print sales have continued to decline while costs to put books in print and ship them to our partners / customers has continued to increase.

During this same span, electronic / digital books have continued to grow, most notably with the device readers such as the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook. Our existing titles have all been added to those formats and have surpassed print sales for current releases.

While monitoring these trends, Silver Leaf Books has decided to explore an electronic / digital publishing strategy for all new authors. It is our belief that the trends being monitored are a sign of the future and that books in this format will continue to increase in demand while printed titles will become cost prohibitive to maintain.

All authors who had submitted novels in the Phase 1 submission process have been notified of the intention to switch to an electronic / digital strategy, and were provided the opportunity to withdraw their submissions or to remain in consideration for this new approach. We are pleased to announce that over 90% of the authors who submitted manuscripts expressed their desire to continue in the review process even if it means not having a physical book in print. Effective immediately, all new submissions will only be considered for electronic / digital release.

We also would like to assure our readers and fans of our existing titles / series that we will continue to release our existing author base in print. This strategy adjustment will only impact new authors being brought into Silver Leaf Books, and any new series that has not yet been announced for release.

Authors interested in being published through Silver Leaf Books as an electronic / digital books, please view our Submission Guidelines.
